    Re: PV Baseball

BTW, what kind of punishment did the boy get?

As far as it being our fault, how can you say that? I didn't raise him, his parents did. I know his dad and I dare say that I think he taught him not to do that. God gave us free will. I am sure his dad taught him better, but for some, learning doesn't come that easy.

Not saying mine or your fault personally. What I mean by that is our generation as a whole. I use football games as an example because they generally bring a bigger crowd. This fall when you attend them just take the time to look down around the field and even in the stands at how many are still wearing hats or walking to get back to their seats so not to miss the kickoff all during the Anthem. I am talking about grown men and women. Look at how many are still talking during the Anthem. These kids notice that and think well if they can do that then it should not be a big deal to go a little further. What we need to do is lead by example(I know you already do). Next time you see someone not paying respects during the Anthem let them know how you feel about it. Ask them to please show their respect. As for his punishment he was kicked out for 10 games and that is fine by me. If he does this again then they need to be more strict on his punishment. I think he should learn his lesson from this and by all I have been told is generally a good kid that just messed up due to peer pressure.

Don't go to any more than 1-3 games a year as my health won't allow it. When I do go, if I notice(and I have noticed) anyone disrespecting the flag or the anthem, I let them know. They tend to get really red faced and shut up. I have even called a coach or two down on it before.

I dont condone what he did but I am not going to call for some of the most severe punishments that others are calling for when he is just a kid. Would be different if he was a grownup doing that. He deserves being punished but not thrown to the wolves. To me that is what the Bristol paper is doing is throwing him to the wolves by listing his name in their article.

Coaches doing that makes it even worse. They are the ones leading those kids out there. I dont think we have seen anything yet. It will get worse.

    Re: PV Baseball

Since this entire incident is out in the paper, I am going to comment. I consider myself pretty patriotic, as a youth I participated in more ceremonies than probably most on this board and have an unbelievable amount of respect for those who served. My grandfather served in Korea, my uncle served two tours of duty in Vietnam; I had great uncles that served in World War II, etc. I get offended when people do not take their hats off at ball games, thus I get the sentiments. What the youth, and we need to remember that this is an underage child, did was wrong, obviously. What the Lonesome Pine District Sports Forum and it’s moderators have done is far worse. This thread has spiraled out of control for the better part of two weeks now with no moderator interaction. The buzz on this site has sparked local paper interest and you have now played a part in destroying the name of a young man.

Furthermore, I’m amazed at what some of the adults on this board are calling for. Have you all never done anything wrong? Please do not give me “I didn’t urinate during the national anthem” either. His actions, while wrong, did not in any way shape or form endanger the well being of another human being. Anybody on this thread that has ever driven drunk (caught or not), did an illegal substance and drove, committed assault, robbery, adultery, or any other of a million things have no place to chastise this young man because what you did directly hurt another human being. This board continues to just get worse. The moderators on this board simply do not care to patrol the board, the adult members seem to think they are holier than thou, and the coolest thing going in Wise County is to get on a message board to shove the fact that you’re a veteran down somebody’s throat or to insult the veterans that have graciously served our country so we can all be safe.
I’m appalled and embarrassed that we allow this to go on in Wise County; you guys need to grow up.

For one I did not say let it slide. I want you to go back through each of my posts and find where I said to let this matter slide. He got punishment to me that was fitting and I applaud PVHS for that. I hope the young man learns from his mistake.

    2. How in the hell can you compare taking a **** during the anthem to raping babies? Sorry but that is absurd! I am just dumbfounded! I know even kids are responsible for their own actions. If you dont know it by now there are different punishments for different crimes. The harsher the crime the harsher the punishment will be. Technically the only crime committed by this young kid was indecent exposure. There is no way that can be even remotely compared to rape.

I just dont think you have fully read any my posts.

That is very true about this board getting the matter in the papers. Truth be known there are plenty of Adults urinating during the Anthem each year. Though they do so in a restroom instead of in the wide open it can still be considered the same thing. Hell if I have the urge hit me hard enough I guess I would make a run to the bathroom myself. I know this youth intentionally done so on a dare but peer pressure does alot of things to a youth. This thread has gone on way too far so regaurdless of what more is said on here this is my last post on the matter permenatly. The youth and his familly will surely be going through enough now as it is. I appologize the the familly for any part I have taken in this discussion.

Whoa man-a little accountability here. The young man did this in public, and that's going to warrant scrutiny (people have free reign to photograph, print stories-as long as it's the truth-another right those vets have given us). If his name is destroyed on here,it's because HE did a bonehead blunder. To blame this board for that is ridiculous (although we both know this place stokes the fire).

Having said that, the kid made a mistake, and he's going to pay for it. Folks on here trying to lynch him are out of line. For the rest of his life, folks are gonna mention this incident when seeing him, talking about him...etc. That's a heavy price to pay,and he's gonna have to be thick-skinned (not to mention the embarrassment to his family). No matter what happened with discliplining him,it pales in comparison to that. I have no doubt if he had it to change,he would. He's a young man who will have to learn from this.

I totally agree with a piece of your thread though DD. As human beings,we are ALL hypocrites to different degrees. Anybody who wants to try to deny that is a liar. We are quick to pass judgement and point fingers, all the while forgetting the skeletons in our own closets. I am guilty of this,as are we all. We just have to remember that we've made our mistakes in our lives as well.

I think the young man has paid the price for his wrong doing. People have free reign to print what they want as long as it's the truth eh? I'd hate for people to tart posting all they knew about the people who posted in this thread (including myself). If I were this young man or his family this thing would be ugly by now. Thankfully, this guy and his family are better people than me and everybody else on here.
